SPTO Meeting

SPTO Meeting: April 1st @ 7pm in the Library

The EFA Student Parent Teacher Organization will meet Thursday, April 1, 7 pm in the Library. This group is committed to building great relationships with parents, teachers, the administration and the school board in order to best support our students. We are looking to add more parents/guardians to the group - our goal right now is just that simple - a few more people to help build a stronger SPTO and to keep moving forward. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

In addition we have a New Parent Partner: Lee Fischer, who will be joining us at the meeting.

Morning Announcments for March 29th, 2010

Seniors: If you have not yet turned in either of your first 2 payments of $115 for Senior Trip, you need to d o that ASAP. The last Payment of $115 is due April 8th. If you did any fundraising, the money you raised will be taken off your last payment.
Also: Please continue to sugn up for your rooms for the senior trip and for dinner before Prom if you are interested. Both sign-ups sheets are outside room 130.
TC3- Tompkins County Community College will be in the Main Office conference room, Wed, March 31 at 10:30am. If you would like to speak with him you can get a pass from your Guidance Couselor.

Tha Spot is closed Monday and Tuesday.

Art Club Meeting Today in room 104. All Art club members planning on coming on the trip must come to the meeting. See Mrs. Newkirk with questions.

FBLA meeting Tuesday, (March 30) at 3:15 in Rm 222.

The EFA Music Department will present a pops concert this Tuesday night,
March 30. Members of the orchestra, festival choir, concert band, concert choir, persuddion ensemble, combined choir and jazz ensemble will permore. Please join us for an evening of entertainment at 7 pm in the auditorium.

Credit Recovery Class: EFA will be offereing social studies and math from 3:30-5:30 and P.E. from 5:30-7:30 Monday thru Thursday for 13 school days.

March 23rd Announcements


Diabetes Dance: April 9th from 7 - 10pm. This will be a spring Fling so girls feel free to wear summer dresses or anything springy. Tickets will be $3 before and $5 at the door. Buy your tickets during lunch starting March 29th.


Blood Drive: Friday March 26th. Sign up with Mr. Tobin or during your lunch period.


Cinco De Mayo Celebration: purchase your raffle tickets for the wall hanging from any committee member (Mrs. Watkins, Mrs. Wheeler, Mrs. Frank, Sra. Piatt, Mrs. Matthews). Tickets are $1 for one and $2 for 3. Proceeds will be put towards the Senior Trip.


Credit Recovery Class At EFA for April -- Classes start Monday, March 29th. EFA will be offering social studies and math from 3:30 - 5:30 and P.E. from 5:30 to 7:30 Monday thru Thursday for 13 school days. See your Counselor to sign up.


GSA Meeting: There is an important meeting for GSA members on Thursday, March 25th in the Main Office Conference room right after school.


GSA T-shirts For Sale: GSA is now taking orders for T-Shirts. The price is $7.50. To order see Mrs. Young or Seth Stull.

AP Exams: If you are interested in taking an AP Exam, please bring your check to Mrs. Kiser in the Guidance Office by Wednesday, March 24th. The cost for each exam is $86. Make checks payable to Elmira Free Academy.


Seniors: Senior Trip Deposit $115 due Thursday, March 18th.

EFA Students In Art Competition

Elijah Vay, Ryan Walton, and Micheala Lynch will be competing in Saratoga Springs, NY on April 15th in the Olympics of the Visual Arts. Elijah and Ryan are working on the photography category and Micheala is working on the illustration category. EFA has earned one of the top 3 places in the State for one or more categories for the past 7 years. Class of 2011

Class of 2011 will be having a Craft Fair on March 27th in the EFA Cafeteria from 10 -4. Food and crafts will be for sale. Access the event from the Cafeteria doors.

Fall Sports Sign-Ups: Fall sports sign-ups going on now in the Health Office. Please stop in as soon as possible to sign-up and ensure you are eligible to play in August.

March Madness Has Arrived: Mon--Purple day (Relay day) Tues--"Cammo" Day--Camoflauge attire or for those of us who want to support our fellow American Patriots in a different fashion, wear something patriotic--red, white, or blue. Wed--Tis a wearin of the Green for St. Patrick's Day. Thursday--College Day--The first round of March Madness revs up. Support your favorite team. Friday--Hero Day!! Super, Everyday Hero, or occupation.

The Finger Lakes Finns: If you a studnet with an interest in Finnish culture you can apply for a scholarship. The deadline for applying is May 20, 2010.

Interact Club: Pennies for Polio Campagin: There is not cure for Polio but for only 60 cents, you can provide enough vaccine to protect a child for life! Please bring your pennies to your 1st period class March 8th-18th. The winning class gets a free breakfast.

Seniors: If your college requires a mid-year transcript see your counselor ASAP.

The Senior Panaramic Photo will be taken on March 18th @ 2:25.

The Polly Sanders Scholarship: applilcations are in the guidance office. If you have made a unique or significant contribution to the community or you have overcome a major obstacle in your personal life you should be applying for this scholarship.
