Morning Announcements

Intramural Badminton and Ping Pong Sectional Tryouts begin Monday February 28th @ 3:05 in the gym. Any questions see Mr. Ferris.

Spring Track and Field: There will be a mandatory meeting Monday, Feb. 28th @ 3:20 in the EFA Community RM for all boys and girls interested in competing in Track and Field this Spring.

9th and 10th Graders:
The Cornell Upward Bound program is looking for new members. This is a mentoring program preparing students for college. Tutoring and support is offered at EFA. Also students live on the Cornell Campus for part of the summer. They take courses, work and volunteer while engaging in leadership activities and social events. See your Counselor ASAP.

Study Abroad Opportunity: Monies are available for a student who would like to study abroad for the summer or during the school year. This is an amazing opportunity. See Mrs. Nicklaus

The Hispanic Flamenco Ballet is coming to Elmira Free Academy on April 21st. This group will present 2 shows. Latino American Fiesta and Spring in Spain.

Congratulations EFA Varsity Girl's Basketball Team. What a game! Last night at Elmira College they won the against Southside High School in overtime. They will play again Friday Evening @ Maine Endwell.

New traffic pattern to begin at EFA: Starting Wednesday, Feb. 23, there will be a new traffic pattern for the U-shaped drive in front of Elmira Free Academy’s main entrance. Cars will not be allowed to drive through the U-drive in the front of the school between the hours of 7:20 and 8 a.m. and between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. During these times, the drive may only be used by school buses. Parents who usually drop off or pick up their children during these hours will now need to do so in the back of the building. There will be visible signs to remind motorists of the change, and traffic citations will be issued.

Fresh hot popcorn will be available Tomorrow after Pd 1/2 in the library. 75 cents a bag.

Early/Late Release: Please see Mrs. Mustico in the upstairs Assistant Principal's office for your early release/late arrival sticker. Please bring your school ID badge with you.

We will be having a prom committee meeting after school on Feb 16th right after school in the auditorium.

Dodge Ball Tournament: EFA Dodge Ball Tournament Feb 25th from 6-9pm in the gym. Cost is $25 per team, teams of 8-10 people. $1 spectator admission. Sign up in the library. Money is due the 21st.

FBLA(Future Business Leaders of America)
:
There is a very important FBLA meeting on Tuesday, Feb 15th @ 3:15 in Rm 222. If you plan on going to competition you MUST ATTEND.

Bake Sale: A Bake Sale during Lunch periods on Thurs. Feb 17th to benefit the 12-1-1 class and the SADD Club.

Congrats

Please join me in congratulating India and Deserae(Graduated 2/3) for earning Honorable Mentions in the 2011 Scholastic Art Awards competition! There will be an awards ceremony on Sunday Feb 13th at noon to honor all the award winners at the Clemens Center. their work will be displayed at the Arnot Art Museum through March 4th. the exhibit will open immediately following the awards ceremony. Admission to the museum is free, stop in to chekc out India and Deserae's work. as well as the work of other art students from the region.

Seniors: All seniors we are in need of pictures for the slide show. The deadline for pictures to be turned in is April 1st. You can turn pictures into Mrs. Sweeney in Rm 218.
***A representative from Jostens will be in the cafe on Thurs., Feb 10th during lunch periods to collect money and hand out graduation merchandise ordered previously. He will also be taking orders for caps and gowns for anyone who has not yet ordered theirs.
***We will be having a prom committee meeting after school on Feb 16th right after school in the auditorium.

All students who want "late arrival/early release" privileges for second semester must complete the form even students who had passes first semester. The sticker on your student ID that shows you are approved is a different color this semester. You can get the forms in the Assistant Principals office on the 2nd floor.

Tech Team: Tech team will be meeting Tues and Thurs from 3:10- 4:30 to work on the set for the play.

Art Club: There will be an Art Club meeting on Monday after school in RM 104. We will be talking about the Arnot Mural and the play sets. All are welcome. Any questions see

National Honors Society:
The national Honors Society is selling DAffodil for Daffodil Days sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Please order by Feb 18th. See Mrs. Perkins if you have any questions.

Sophomores:
Lollipop sales for Valentines Day. $1 for a lollipop they will be delivered during 3/4 on Feb 14th(Valentine's Day). For sale in the library and during lunches.

There will be open gym for lacrosse at Parley Coburn gym Thursday, Feb 3rd from 3:30 to 5:00. If you have a stick and helmet please bring it with you.
