Morning Announcements April 28th
On April 30th the YWCA is sponsoring a "Stand Against Racism" program on Gray Street in downtown Elmira. The beginning time is 4:30 with closing remarks at 7:00. Food and beverages will be available. There will be proclamations, testimonials, action statements, HipHop, R&B, choirs, and other perfomances. A symbolic brick wall of racism will be torn down. The content of this wall is a direct representation of people, their stories, thoughts, feelings and opinions regarding intolerance. Also negative experiences people have had and definfitions of racism will be told on these symbolic bricks. Schools, businesses, community based organizations and other agencies will be participating. Anyone who would like to submit a brick needs to print it on a piece of red construction paper and I will deliver it beforehand. There is also opportunity to do this during the event as well. Please spred the word and ateend if you like. Brick paper will be in Guidance and the Cafeteria on Thursday.
Juniors: We have about 2 months left of the 2009 - 2010 school year. In preparation for the next year -senior year- we will be having a contest for the design of the senior tees. Create a design on an 8 1/2 by 11'' white printer paper sheet and submit it to Ms. Dahl in Rm 220 by 3pm on Monday May 3rd. Remember-- it needs to be school appropriate and have your name on it. Your peers will vote on the designs on May 4th at the parent/student meeting. This meeting will be held in the library from 6 to 7pm. A parent must attend with you. Letters were sent home and questions should be directed to Ms. Dahl.
Reminder to All Students: If you plan on playing a fall klsport, you must be signed up in the health office. Sign-ups are going on now.
"The Envisioning Your Future Program" will meet in Rm 226 right after school on Thursday, April 29th. All EYF members are encouraged to attend.

Morning Announcements for April 27th
The Junior Varsity Baseball and Softball games scheduled for today in Vestal have been cancelled. These teams do not need early dismissal. As of right now the Varsity Baseball and Softball games scheduled at EFA are still going to be played.
Credit Recovery: Credit Recovery for Parts in Government(PIG)/Economics, Physical Education(PE), and Math will strat on Tuesday, May 4th. This will be the last credit recovery at EFA this school year. Any interested students please see your guidance counselor.
FBLA: There is a FBLA meeting Thursday @ 3:10 room 222. If you'd like to run for office, you'll need to attend.
Any Boys or Girls interested in a 3 on 3 Intramural Basketball League. There will be a brief meeting Thursday April 29th @ 3:05 in the gym.

The EFA Booster Club/Project Graduation Rummage Sale that was scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 2010 in the Elmira Free Academy Gymnasium has been CANCELLED.
National Honor Society: Members interested in participating in the talent show for Arnot Ogden residents, meet in Mrs. Perkins room Right After School on Wed. Aprl 14th. The meeting whould be over by 3:20.
Bake Sale: Sponsored by the Peer Mediation Program Thursday, April 15th during Lunch Periods.

Booster Club & Project Graduation Rummage Sale: May 1st --EFA Gym, 9-Noon.
If you have clean unwanted items that you would like to donate for the sale, drop-off dates will be in the EFA Wrestling Room April 27,28, & 29th from 4-6pm.
There will be a Law Career Panel for any student intersted in a Career within the Legal Profession. The Career Panel will be held on May 4th form 10 - 11 in the Community room. Sign-up with Mrs. Sweeney in Rm 218.
Sign-up in Guidance for the Dr. Galvin Memorial Black College Tour -- Tour during Spring Break 4/22 - 4/24. Fee $100 pay for Hotel, breakfast, and bus. First come, first serve. Only 10 slots.
Seniors: Please rurn in your payments for Senior Trip ASAP. Also, please sign up for dinner before Prom if you are planning on going and for your room for Senior Trip.

- Scholarship: Chemung/Schuyler Municipal Clerk's Association Scholarship applications are in Guidance. If you are in the 2010 graduation class and are planning to continue your education in the field of Business or Government come and apply. Deadline is April 30th.
