Rat Club: the Rat club is raising money to pay for our female albino rat, "Snowball" to have life-saving surgery to remove a mammary tumor. We need $75 to pay her vet bills. Please help us by donating in the main office or Rm 212

All players that played JV or Varsity Baseball, we will have a brief parent meeting on Monday, Dec 19th at 5:30 at Southside for fundraising.

The applications for the Fire Fighters of the State of New York Scholarship are in the Guidance Office. If you will be pursuing a career in the Community Service-related areas and are a fire fighter or are related to one come and get your application.

Spring Musical: This year's spring musical is Camelot. There will be an information meeting for anyone interested in acting on stage or working backstage Today, fifth Period in Rm 224. We will meet quickly at the beginning of 5th. See you There, Ms. Gill

Elmira Free Academy let's come together this holiday season and help make a difference in our local community. The Federal Emergency Management System has cut funding by over 40% at our local Samaritan Center which serves many people in our community who are fighting the effects of poverty. Catholic Charities works to ensure that people have food, clothing, shelter, medical supplies and the ability to achieve a decent standard of living. Starting Monday, Dec 5th we are going to have a contest to see which period 3/4 class can collect the most amount of products to donate to the Samaritan Center this holiday season. The period 3/4 class who collects the most will receive a breakfast in class the week of Christmas break. The teachers from the department who collect the most will win a lunch the week of Christmas break. Our goal as a building is 2,000 total items.
The items we are looking to collect are:
Sugar
Cereal
High quality proteins: Tuna, Peanut Butter, Canned Meats, and protein bars
Paper products like: Paper towels, Toilet paper, tissues, and Ziploc bags.

Donuts and Hot chocolate for sale in the Library tomorrow morning.

Black Light Dance:

Electronics Recycling Day: EFA Project Graduation will be hosting an Electronics Recycling Day on Sat. Nov 5th from 10am-2pm at EFA near the EFA Community Room/Cafe. Bring us your unwanted, unworking computers, monitors, keyboards, mice, cable/video game consoles, test equipment, medical equipment, TV's, VCR's CD player, DVD players, fax machines, copiers, cell phones, phones and phone systems, communication equipment, radios, pagers, vacuums, coffee makers (glass pots, maker only), blenders (no glass containers, base only) electric heaters, microwaves, fans, laptops, scanners, printers, digital converter box, audio/video equipment and more. The cost is a cash donation. The goal is to send our 2012 seniors on a safe night full of fun and memories after graduation.

Support EFA Project Graduation: come join us for a night of fun, shopping refreshments, and prizes at THE Christmas House. 361 Maple Ave. Tuesday, Nov. 1st from 3:00 - 8:00pm. Spend $25, $50, or $100 and get a special gift. If you cannot make it the night of the show, you can still shop the Elmira store or the Mall store through Sun, Nov 6th.

Express Fest: Parade and Bonfire at Eldridge Park, Friday, October 21 from 5-7. This will combine both schools and their marching bands, king and queen courts riding in vehicles, eight floats from both schools, localfire departments, student bands, booster club involvement, and other events.

Seniors: Those who ordered a Senior Tee Shirt the 1st week of school they are here. Please see Coach K in Rm 129.

Tech Team: any students interested in working on the Erie Bell Train should come to Tech Team. We will meet Today Tues, and Wednesday this week.

College Information Day: This well be held on Thursday Oct 20 at the Arnot Mall. Times are
11-2pm and 4:30-7pm. Permission slips in Guidance.

Juniors and Seniors: The Armed Services vocational aptitude test will be held at EFA on Oct 13th @ 8:00am. If you are interested in the military you need to score at a certain percentage rate to qualify for recruitment. See Mrs. Kiser in the guidance office to sign-up.

Interact Club: The Interact Club will Be meeting this Thursday after school in RM 212.

The following colleges will be in the Main Office conference room today Oct. 11. Paul Smith's College at 8:am and Mansfield University @ 10:45.

LaCrosse: Attention students interested in playing lacrosse. There will be a Fall and Winter Lacrosse Club informational meeting after school, Wednesday, Oct 12th in the gym. If you are interested in playing lacrosse please attend.

The PSAT will be administered to all Juniors on Wed, Oct 12th. There is no cost to take the test. The test begins promptly at 7:55. Please bring two #2 pencils and a calculator. Career Panel: There will be a Career panel for students interested in the Engineering fild on Thursday, Nov 10th in the Community Rm. from 9:30-10:30 am. Sign up with Mrs. Sweeney in Rm 218.

Sophomores:
T-shirt money and order forms are due Oct 6ht, Today. Order forms are in Mrs. Sirianni's room 229. Be sure to put your name on the form. Please remember if you plan on playing in PowerPuff you MUST buy a shirt. No late orders will be accepted so get them in.

Care package:
We will be making a care package for Matt RosenKrans, an EFA Graduate who has been wounded in Iraq. Donate money, snacks, music, magazines, and books. Please turn in anything to Mr. Tobin in Rm 133 or Mrs. Hamilton RM 222.

SADD Club:
The SADD Club meeting has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Friday after school. come join a great club and get involved in Octobers, National Bullying Prevention Month. See Mrs. Rundell in Rm 226

Morning Announcements

Any Student that drives to school must have an EFA parking pass on their car or it will be ticketed. Please see Mrs. Mustico in Mr. Boyanowski's office for an application.

College Information Day will be held on Thursday, October 20th at the Arnot Mall. Times are 11:00am - 2pm and 4:30pm - 7:00 pm. Representatives from over 100 colleges and universities will be there. Financial institutions, technical schools and the military will also have representatives available.

Students wishing to attend the day session need to pick up a permission slip in the guidance office. Slips must be returned by 10/17. The bus will leave at 10;30 and return at 1:30. any student who needs a bag lunch should see their counselor ASAP. Parents are encouraged to bring their students to the evening session.

Again see Mrs.Kiser for a permission slip for college day. No students will be allowed to drive on their own.

A representative from SUNY Geneseo will be in the Main Office conference room Wednesday, October 5th at 11:30am. If you would like to meet with her you can get a pass from Mrs. Kiser in the Guidance Office.

Seniors:
Nominations for King and Queen court for the Express Fest will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Seniors can nominate a fellow senior . Nomination forms will be in the library.

Key Club:
There will be a meeting in Rm 125 October 3rd. Raffle and food will be provided.

EFA Ski Club: Students may pick uyp Ski Club information in the office for the upcoming SKi and board season.

Peace Works:
there will be a Peace Works Club meeting in rm214a after school on Thursday, Oct. 6th.

Yearbook:
There will be a mandatory yearbook meeting next week. If you are interested in joining yearbook, you MUST attend one of our two meetings. they will be Tuesday, Oct 4th and Thursday Oct 6th. You do not need to come to both. See Mrs. Kennedy or Miss Bush with questions.
